the copenhagen outfit debuts with a speed-heavy three track ep entitled closer. the ep is heavily inspired by the contemporary rave culture of copenhagen and pays homage to new movements in the scene. it opens with the uptempo techno track nitro zeus consisting of ravey hats and blissful synths, then moves to the purely percussion driven track kino and closes with the murky and forever building title track closer.

back to the hardcore, talismann returns where it once started. early rave in the land of ecstasy, where synths saw deep and kicks shatter bones.

the procedure club is a collaborative -bedroom-pop- project founded by andrea and polish emigré adam malec in new haven, connecticut in 2008. the two began recording as a natural progression from their boredom with living in poverty in new haven, sharing musical tastes in shoegaze and pop bands of the 80s and 90s, such as black tambourine, and the jesus and mary chain, as well as a common admiration for baroque artists such as purcell and bach. out of this god-forsaken alliance comes procedure club, in which adam and andrea have combined melodic song structures with heavily reverbed vocals, stuttering mechanical drum beats, dirty bass, synths, and alternately washed-out and jangly guitars.

deep club resident dj and head strobe controller lone dancer marks our label s 4th entry with his first solo 12- on vinyl. after finishing two quality tape albums in 2017 already for jacktone and always human tapes, -house is a tunnel- arrives packed with 4 club-ready jagged tekno bangers and one cut for the chillout room. side a - communication: the title track is a sure-fire party starter centered around a thick kickdrum and a repeating synth rhythm laced with weird percussion and synth stabs trickling through the texture. next, -po12-3- combines crisp claps, hats, and a central synth theme that calls for an intergalactic rave. -colony dwelling- kicks off the transportation side, taking our extraterrestrial dancers to a new dimension steeped in fog juice and flangers. -floor- has a chill intro until it launches into a gritty track that throws broken kickdrums and distorted synths in every direction. finally, -night rain- puts the party to rest utilizng soft pads while hinting at moments from the night before. overall, -house is a tunnel- is a fitting dance-centric conglomeration of lone dancer s unique style of jacking techno, broken beats, and spaced out tracks that has set him apart in 2017. —ryan scannura

the grand, sweeping sonic explorations of “pretoria”, from john matthias and jay auborn’s 2017 album “race to zero”, are given new life on this four-track remix ep.
moon gangs (better known as william young, keyboardist in bristol-based electronic outfit beak>) takes the reins first, delivering a thunderous take on the original’s faster-paced second half. typically of the artist, the track builds and builds in intensity, climaxing with an apocalypse of emotional, layered synths.
bristol’s cuts strips back the elements for a much darker reworking. a single, repeating piano note echoes into wide, open space alongside the original’s antique violins before clattering percussion and synths enter the mix for the most foreboding turn of the release.
closing the ep, former mogwai member john cummings also bases his reinterpretation around the original’s piano. but where cuts leans on moody darkness, cummings take is more upbeat, courtesy of a driving four to the floor kick and fidgety, high-pitched piano.

lobster theremin dig back down unda to bring another fresh salty aussie experience to the table with well seasoned young talent shedbug aka geordie elliot-kerr at the helm for this one. as co-head of salt mines he’s been responsible for some of the most exciting new underground electronic bizz coming out of aus - including hymns, rudolph c, escape artist and 92 spacedrum orchestra. as shedbug he makes entrancing house, acid-tinted techno, cosmic electro and heavily stepped uk-influenced jams, with 12” ep’s already landing via of paradise, deeptrax, flux and a cassette album for thrhndrdsvntnn. on destination love, shedbug harnesses the emotive, pad-heavy sound showcased on previous outings whilst mixing in blend of interstellar synths, jagged breaks and crusted-yet-cutting drum work - all mixed down with some serious studio finishing.

this initial release on the new futurepast label marks davy’s first output as a producer, crystallizing his endeavours in the studio and bearing witness to his long-standing experiments in electronic music. built between london and berlin over the last four years, the long now lays down the blueprints for following ventures on the label: using old and new gear to create unique, obscure soundscapes both outside of memory and away from nostalgic projections of lost futures. in a timeless and precise collaboration, davy has brought together two historical figures for this release: 1990s r&s records associate david morley mixed the tracks, while simon davey of the exchange lent his renownedmastering skills to the project. temporality, time travel and perception are key concepts for davy, and not only in the ep’s title. the four stripped-down tracks move forwards, sidewards and backwards in a bid to get us lost – not in space but in what time might sound like should we be swimming through it. mysterious and ageless synths mesh with the beats of an unnamed drum machine under davy’s control. we move through a non-linear story told by three distinct forward-thinking techno titles: no memories planned, circular weeks and causal loop. finally, the titular ambient track pans out cinematically over the images left in our heads: an invitation to begin it all again in the long now...

2volt and emasa land their first posthouse ep on eademvoce. four tracks that serve all needs, with a strictly selected sound palette declined in four different moods. a1 delivers the hypnotic energy which is necessary to take off in a brief and significant journey into the past future. a2 is a pit-stop, giving the listener a pause to gaze around, leaving a chance to the mind evaporate into the synthetic atmospheres. b1 turns the situation in a determined hunt for something hidden, in a scenario dominated by rubbery tweaks and acid stabs. b2 is the celebration of arrival, the success of discovering something unique traveling in an acid path that cross a forest of morbid synths.

we re not sure who s behind the mysterious ac-exp project, but the shadowy figure returns with more of that strange, submerged house music he s been tickling discerning djs with over the past few years. after taking last year off, 1a is a fine place to start things up again with a strutting jack track carrying acidic synth pulses that flirt with measured delay processing. its a jam that sounds steamy and sinister all at once. 1b maintains this restrained but seductive vibe with the slightly trancey throb of the lead synths pivoting around the snappy drums to great effect.

the third 12-inch record by native response is here. nr003: ornithogallum ep by human space machine. this time the record’s significantly more focused towards the dance floor, blending functional techno grooves with cosmic synths and arpeggios. human space machine is part of the native response crew, and makes his debut release on the imprint. on remix duty this time is the almighty eduardo de la calle.

as mosaic reaches release number 40, steve o sullivan dives into another studio collaboration with his new label mate and expert hand, mike schommer - bringing in the talents of rod modell on remix duties. etching two slices of dub heavy grooves that cover either side of the techno and house spectrum, their first effort emphasises the former on title track -submerged- (b1). it doesn t pull any punches - precision moulded bass takes centre stage around evolving synths and classic delay action. their 2nd -depth charge dub- (b2) leans more towards the latter as the duo focus on the combination of a rolling sub, laidback percussion and subtle stabs that cycle gently around. the cherry on top comes in the form of rod modell s -deepchord s negative-space exploration version- as he takes a 9 min trip to the hinterland of his sonic imagination, elegantly finding new layers and spatial effects. call it what you will, dubbed out house with a splash of techno or dubbed out techno with a splash of house - this is heavyweight material.

figure jams enters the next round, setting up a pairing between two hardware-loving, no-frills techno-purists. both artists build on vibrant, machine-made roughness, yet each leaving their uniquely flavored footprint. kicking things off is eindhovens albert van abbe, whose wide-open soundscapes and searching synths evoke an emotional impact that goes far beyond mere tools, able to equally move and sooth even the fiercest of late-night lovers. low-key producer sp-x appears on the flipside, ready to get lost deep within layers of hypnotic loops. searing percussion, rumbling bass and dubby synths engage in complex conversation, subtly swelling and swaying but always keeping the groove ever so tight.

desolat label boss loco dice kicks off 2018 in fine style with a huge new single which sees the him reflecting on his musical roots and his connection to dusseldorf, detroit and beyond, whilst giving a taster for a brand new long player to come later in the year. dices recent past has seen the master of robust house and techno funk serve up killer remixes of mobys classic ‘go and release his underground sound suicide album, whilst continuing to headline the biggest clubs and festivals around the world. at the same time, he has directed his endless passion and musical sensibilities to bare upon his desolat label, with a stream of records released from some of the most exciting artists around and supported by djs across the globe. now though the stage is set for the first new loco dice original recording in some time and it is sure to see him once more at heart of the global scene. the bristling ‘roots is a typically forceful track that blurs the lines between house end techno. it has twitchy synths bringing the energy to hurried drums as smooth chords add real soul. the claps are coarse & edgy, whilst dices own dark vocals bring a brooding atmosphere and the whole thing is a synapse firing rave-up that cannot fail to detonate any dance floor. an instrumental is also included for even more visceral thrills. this timely new single is the lead track from dices latest album project, entitled love letters and to be released later in 2018.

strap yourselves in as post pluto takes flight with french duo, rbdp, on their fresh self-titled ep. the record features four tracks of high altitude cruisers, soaring through the elements of acid, deep house, breaks and dubbed out synths. we depart the troposphere with -acid r-, a mellow and low-end fusion of dubby textures and acidic lines. -like dat- follows, with moody pads, percussive grooves and celestial tones. on the flip, -st san- takes the record into an acidic journey of 303 sequences and saturated 707 drum patterns, with a sublime zero-gravity remix by red ember records bossman ewan jansen.

attempt to find a convenient musical pigeon-hole for zapatilla and you ll find him slipping from your grasp and zig-zagging in unexpected yet compelling directions. his transcendent debut ep comprises two ambitious, shapeshifting tracks. initially, opener crumbling down suggests a dance-floor focused blueprint, before its arrangement of percussion and classical instruments come into focus around the 3 minute mark, the result is a steadfastly organic and emotional opus. its sister track thumb piano is a more abstract affair, with its eclectic instrumentation anchored to a palette of synths and electronica. via his world travels and collaborations with numerous artists, zapatilla has accrued a wealth of experience, influences and a stock pile of varied and unusual instruments. it s a varied cv and includes his role as bass player in the acclaimed owiny sigoma band and, along with tom skinner, composing the score for swedish film the real estate a nominee for best film at this year s berlin film festival. this hybrid of influences has resulted in a spine-tingling alchemy that on paper shouldn t work. but zapatilla s natural instinct for melody, innovative arrangements and musical ability, make this one of the most musically adept and intriguing artists set to emerge this year.

paal is passionate about hardware - analog drum machines, synths and pedals are tracked through a mixing desk, raw and unedited. imperfections intrinsic to this process are essential to him and give his sound a unique character - warm, organic and, at times, lo-fi and grainy. this can be heard throughout the ep. the voi 011 also marks a shift in cover artwork as voitax departs from the utilitarian, hand-stamped labels of the first releases - german photographer nina roders, has conceptualised a series of her unique photographs for the forthcoming ten-part ep series.

german producer silent-one presents an ambient four track release on his own label intimate silence this february. part of the from another mind crew longside obscure shape & shdw and javier ba&#776,,hr, silent-one (real name benedikt merkl) launched intimate silence as a platform for ambient music in 2016. since then the label has hosted artists like ressort imprint regular g&#322,,o&#769,,s, taapion records co-founder pvnv and arsenik records’ dold, however this release sees the label founder make his very own debut. fuzzy atmospherics and chilling chord sequences set the tone for the ominous ‘human border’ before ghostly synths and twinkling melodies work together to form ‘decide your fate’. on the flip, mesmerising arpeggios meander within an echoing setting in ‘sign of anxiety’ until the murky ‘lost souls’ pairs dusky elements with a spoken word sample to create a sci-fi aesthetic to conclude the release.

the second release from de grey introduces the debut 12inch from yorkshire native jack angle week-end, opening proceedings, with skeletal kicks and jacked percussion combining to maximize damage on the dancefloor. 6pnhhpe follows up with brooding acid and sub bass pressure. on the flip, stabilizer lightens the mood with lush synths whilst seita rounds things off with playful melodies juxtaposed with an industrial framework.

the new release by poly sone on friendship & decadence is an introspective trip with a bouncy, dubby flair that sets the scene with gritty synths and spacey arpeggios reminiscent of sci-fi soundtracks from the 80 s and continues by avoiding the ordinary with some light trance and a tinge of acid. get ready for this out-of-body experience and exit flesh!

new york’s p.leone debuts on rekids special projects with four vinyl-only techno cuts this february. debuting on spencer parker’s work them records in 2016, p.leone has since launched his own imprint entitled e-missions alongside label partner caiazzo. moving to berlin last year, the american producer has quickly earned himself a name within the german capital, making regular appearances at the likes of tresor and ://about blank, and now joining respected berlin-based label rekids as part of their vinyl-only series. metallic echoes, robust kicks and breakbeat percussion lay the foundation for ‘rose petal breaks’, before ‘noon service’ demonstrates crystalline synths and futuristic effects. on the flip, thudding drums and energetic claps form ‘hold me down’ until the ominous ‘sometimes i feel strong’ concludes the package with rattling components and a cacophony of intricacies.

pale blue, the duo of elizabeth wight and mike simonetti, released their debut album too much critical acclaim back in 2015. they come together once again with their latest ep you stopped dying due to drop on crosstown rebels in february. the you stopped dying ep takes influence from shoegaze groups like slowdive and my bloody valentine and moves it to the dance floor. the result is a strange hybrid that some have called technogaze. this would never work if liz wasnt such a strong vocalist. her amazing vocal range makes it easy. mike simonetti pale blue is a hypnotic affair, the driving bass sitting perfectly under wight’s powerful yet ethereal vocals. daughter of babylon takes the record into heavier techno territory with its thudding bass and wights breathy vocals delicately layered over the top. on the flip side love is an unapologetically industrial number with screeching synths that echo around wights vocals. simonetti and wight have each earned their musical stripes in their own rights. simonetti founded the hugely popular italians do it better as well as his own successful record label, 2mr. he’s released a slew of records on highly regarded imprints such as me me me, correspondant and public release, and enjoys a fruitful career as a touring dj, which shows no sign of abating. wight has previously lent her exhilarating vocals to the west coast band, silver hands of which she was once one half

seth troxler’s play it say it label opens up 2018 with another release from the highly regarded ataxia, who serve up their third ep for the imprint. the detroit duo impressed with their previous outings on the label, the supertouch ep back in july 2017 and the acid ep in 2016. since then they have also released on leftroom and nervous and continued their eight year residency at prominent detroit venue tv lounge. their fresh take on motor city techno often comes with flashes of acid and makes cyber punks ted krisko and eric ricker one of the most interesting pairs in the game. opening up the essential ep is ‘quicksand’, an immediately arresting and busy electro track with real machine soul. the bassline bubbles and boils underneath crisp percussion and emotive keys bring a sense of tenderness. it’s a macho cut with robust drums and is sure to win over any crowd. the fresh ‘hot snakes’ is a deep, menacing track with dark bass gurgling beneath the airy hi hats. frazzled synths are dystopian and brain frying, and together the whole thing takes you into hypnotic territory with an intense sense of urgency that is impossible to ignore. last of all is the freakiest of the lot. the brilliant ‘texas is the reason’ has circling bass that is warped and intriguing and will own any club, while the drums drive on and trippy keys are skewed and twisted up top. it’s a truly intense record for late in the night that is sure to become a big tune. this is an expressive and varied ep full of contemporary and innovative detroit house and techno sounds and marks another step in the ataxia story.

when alexander (boddika) got in touch asking for some new fresh music i knew it was a really important step for me. nonplus is a stable reference label in the techno scene and it was a unique opportunity. i thought the open minded philosophy of the label would help me a lot and i could create more experimental works. i decided to produce the tracks in almost one take… turned on the synths and looked for the perfect range and character of sounds and spent some weeks recording it, finishing with some edits before the final mixing. the final results were more than expected. harmonic rain, the ep mains track has a really special groove, with a main melody which is transposed and slightly altering it gives me a good feeling. the ep feels to me like a complete journey itself. with peak time tracks, and more experimental and warm up music. loops but not loops. in summary, im really happy with this release and with the beginning of this musical relationship with boddika and the nonplus team.

fina records strides into 2018 with another fresh new house ep, this time from paso aka pascal pamme. over the last few years this french artist has released on the likes of d.ko records, increase, and the groove, and always showcases his knack for loose limbed, organic house grooves laden with jazzy keys and soul-infused synths. the four cuts he offers up here once again prove he is a producer with a truly authentic and musical style.

label friend jules heffner is doing his debut on terrace trips. -swamp- kicks off with some jungle sounds and a deep dotted bass line. guy from downstairs (gfd, robsoul) serves a smooth remix with a rolling morphing bass line and some crisp percussion hints. on the b-side -wharf- is with his flurry synths more like a fata morgana tearing you in some wet fantasies. a remix of this one is coming from anatol who just uses some synths from the original and a simple 303 bass line which turns the track in a more minimalistic direction you better use nobite on this one.

mondo groove celebrates italo-disco in fine style delighting us with the most important tunes from the legendary phantom records a ride deep into the world of the label that has not only produced renowned music, but has been acknowledged as a serious influence on modern disco sounds. emerging in the late 70s to early 80s, italo bridged the gap between disco and house, and was a staple of seminal chicago djs like frankie knuckles (who pioneered many of the drum machines and synths that are still in use today). i-robots, a true connoisseur of the genre, hailing from the piedmont area of italy, curated and carefully selected the tracks on this compilation. this eleven track collection features originals and rarities, officially repressed here for the first time, and 2 tracks re-edited by i-robots. the lp comes with the original phantom records logo on the front, scans of original 7-inch and lps covers, as well as photos of the era on the back.

the torben unit band from berlin returns more experimental than ever whilst still being rooted between jazz and rock. after the self-titled first lp on money $ex records, the second album -sawaasch garahsch- will be out in winter 2017. no label – self-released. the new album consists of many episodes telling a story that couldn t be purer nor rawer. jazz-rock is the genus when modal madness meets electronic soul and psychedelic spheres. the spectrum of instruments being used is huge: from bouzouki to pearl s syncussion, there is no limit of instrumentation whilst the core of e-piano, guitar, bass and drums mostly remains. torben unit s concerts as well as the records are a guaranteed jazz-rock party with never ending feeling.

next up on francis harriss newly-founded record label kingdoms comes something very special from brooklyn-based film composer, songwriter, producer and performer leah lazonick. movimenti della luna doro (movements of the moon of gold translated from italian) is a four-track ep from one of the most exciting musicians and performers around - a beautiful quartet of contemporary classical music with a twist. lazonick is something of a polymath, having composed and conducted orchestral and electronic scores for short films and commercials as well as being a classically-trained pianist. lazonick is also a connoisseur of analog synths and vintage drum machines, and will release a second ep focussing on these passions during the course of 2018. here we are treated to three luscious works for piano and string quartet, written for a one-off performance at studio off interarts, an art gallery in montreal. the piece was performed in a forest-like immersive environment, and was originally called in a forest (a piece in three movements). lazonick performed the piano parts along with a string quartet she had assembled for the performance/recording. lazonick explains: as opposed to most of the other songs/compositions i have written, i have no concrete sentimental story behind writing this piece. the motivation, inspiration and overall idea behind composing it was of a more technical nature, attempting to relay the music in my head at its purest form, without any compromises, by primarily making use of melodic and harmonic dissonances whilst still keeping the content captivating, musical and continuous.

ant orange’s third 12&#8243, for karaoke kalk forms something resembling a trilogy for the label. “right there” is built on a familiar rhodes-n-bass aesthetic, combining the lo-fi jazz of 2017’s “arkupe” with the soulful vocal motifs of 2015’s “s/t”, while introducing more electronic ingredients and taking an increasingly exploratory approach to rhythm and composition. the opening title track clocks in at over 8 minutes, growing slowly from soft tickled keys to a full-bodied groove circled by airy synths and fragmented rnb vocals. “drunk in the trunk” then shifts down a gear, looping another vocal cut over a lazy, stripped-back wahwah vibe. side a closes with experimental jazz skit “let that sink in”, its jerky tempo and flashes of light reminiscent of a late-night subway ride. the b-side takes a more contemplative tone, with the meditative arpeggios and sparse drums of “comfort zone” leading into the dusky west coast stroll of “muscle beach”, before “rudis goes offline” picks up the tempo for a last shimmering dance. the closing track “a frozen lake” sounds just like it sounds – chilled by name and by nature.

the solar phenomena label welcomes achim maerz for its fifth ep. the hamburg producer is an associate of labels like don’t be afraid, where last year he released his mini-album of rough and ready house tracks that are improvised and innovative. the four cuts he serves up here are just as special and have an ethereal air to them.
in my house opens things up with serene synth work and lush detroit stylings. it’s a deep and widescreen track that encourages you to dream. fresh air is a little more upright, with rattling hits and pixelated, long tailed synths lingering above the rooted drums. as the title suggests, leaving this planet is a cosmic exploration, with ambient keys and meditative atmospheres joined by only the most subtle and suggestive sense of rhythm way down below. last of all is two times, a beautiful deep house track with deft synths drifting, bleeding and wandering off into a starry night sky. all in all, then, these are truly thoughtful house tracks.

luciano e valerio, giacomo e michele: odeon are the union of two couples of roman brothers who are not easily defined. take the mellow melodies of talk talk and the celestial guitar riffs of cocteau twins bound together with some heavy goblin-inspired bassline and youll be close to picturing odeons signature sound. drawing from ‘70 italian b-movies soundtracks, psychedelic rock and early 80s new wave, and combining analog synths, dreamy guitars, melancholy vocoder and drum machine-driven percussion, odeon put together a debut album that sounds fresh and classic at the same time. ethereal and mesmerizing, galaxies is the perfect soundtrack for a sonic journey through dying stars and forbidden planets.

mona musique returns with more delectable deep house for its second release: the debut ep from veteran dj lea lisa, featuring rich medina. consistently flying the flag for house music for over 15 years, lea lisa is one of those understated djs responsible for pushing the sound, regardless of electronic trends. a mainstay through her residencies in lyon and toulouse and integral involvement in respected record store innerdisc, lea has been cultivating her production skills for some time behind the scenes, until now. a long time friend of label boss nick v, playing each other s parties back in 2004, mona musique presents its second release walking la mona. inspired by the work of her mentor larry heard and her close friend kerri chandler, imagine that is classic house: simple, effective but above all emotive. complimented by the haunting deep tones of rich medina, his conscious spoken words echo discontentment around the current political (or global) climate. on the flip side lea reminisces of the early 90s with a revived spirit on intention. certainly one for the dancefloor, it is lea lisas subtle production work in the beats, synths and organs that make the difference here.

man power his raw electronic sound, organic flourishes and diverse selection make him a perfect match for dgtl, both on stage as well as on the imprint. next to releasing a steady flow of records on established labels like esp institute, optimo trax, correspondant and hivern discs, man power is running his own shop as well: me me me. this gives him an outlet to release music by both friends and himself. for his release on dgtl records he created a three-track ep called apologue ep, that showcases just two of different sides of his multi-faceted musical scope. the a-side features two firm, acid influenced tracks. the first of these two, the duelist, is an emotive house record, with a soundscape of piano melodies, synths and syncopated percussion laid on top of an acid bassline. el mago del tiempo features heavy hitting kicks combined with a sharp synth pattern. it has a long build up that keeps evolving throughout the entire composition. halfway through, the track breaks in to a raw and fierce rhythm accompanied by yearning, drawn-out synth pads. on the flipside, put your hands on the car (and get ready to die) brings back memories of a long gone past with nods to balearic pop, ebm, and the soundtrack work of stewart copeland, james horner, and jan hammer. this multi layered production has a warm and analogue sounding feel to it that rounds off a 3 dimensional release.

yaleesa hall is back on his home label will & ink with two eps in quick succession. after releasing his debut album in 2016 this is the first solo output from the amsterdam based producer on the label. this first ep is entitled zoe hayley laura and features a trio of tracks that melt electro, techno and broken beats in arresting ways. opening up the ep is zoe price, a silky electro track with shooting synths and big downward bass strikes that add real depth. it s a urgent and arresting affair to wake up the floor. hayley roach then has much more forceful drums that come in one two punch combinations to the gut. synths writhe and gurgle up top as pads rise up and down the scale and the whole thing is brilliantly large. laura pomeroy then rocks back and forth on its heels, with train track like percussion and malfunctioning machine stabs. it s a real tussle between different elements and locks you right in as a result. once again then, the irrepressible yaleesa hall leads from the front.

the brilliantly beguiling r-zone series hits release number 20 with another genre defying four track ep by no one knows who. as always, the music looks backwards to go forwards and frantically blends breakbeat, rave, acid, house, electro and techno into wild new forms. the geometry of shadows kicks off with a flurry of pinging kick drums, rushing synths and smeared chords that manage to be physical yet serene at the same time. chrysalis is deep detroit style house with gurgling basslines and warm future soul synths extending off into the cosmos. ship of tears then races through the galaxies as asteroids, shooting sci-fi synths and glassy melodies all fly by in enchanting fashion, acid is buried deep within and the drum programming is busy and direct. the parliament of dreams closes things down with more haunting celestial pads and cold acid lines that are all backed by boom-bap breakbeats. its dance floor euphoria of the highest order once more.

time for a little recognition… pets welcome a true polish techno founding father to the fold: jacek sienkiewicz. dj since the early 90s, producer since the late 90s and one of the earliest artists to stamp their country down on the techno map, jacek was one of the first polish producers to be signed by the likes of trapez, cocoon and klang and laid down the foundations for the likes of pets founders catz n dogz several years later when they emerged as 3 channels. og status confirmed, hes remained just as consistent as he is influential. this single is proof: ‘su17 is a bubbling sine cauldron that starts with a simmer but builds to a boil with its ever-morphing, lava-like flow. expert drum momentum and sudden layers of instrumental help to create a fluid three-track-in-one experience that spellbinds you crowd for the entire eight minutes without realising. ‘mustang is a cascading synth odyssey that gently rises and falls like an escher looped staircase. gradually building in momentum with more of jaceks signature hypnosis flare, its not until the drums double up with an almost live-style visceral feel that you realise just how high jaceks taken you. it comes complete with a star-lit switch from berlins serial innovator tobias, where the synths are deftly refocused and a whole layer of orchestral delight are layered within.

with its developed sound, the neurotransmitter ep presents its listeners with four powerful tracks, skilfully balancing between past and present. the ep is stylishly kicked-off by its title track neurotransmitter, offering driving percussion and hallowing synths that surely will get any dance floor up and going. an endeavour that is further complimented in the form of a mind boggling remix by one of the genre’s most influential producers, mike parker.
on the flipside the story continues with micro macro cosmos, a true mind trip, perfectly fit for the afterhours. after which the journey is ultimately concluded in fashion with abstract structure, a classic percussion driven techno stomper.

berlin-based duo ontheground which consists of myztical and diagenetic origin, is about to release “role of the observer”, their follow-up to last year’s debut ep “touching higher ground”. this record is a snapshot of their creative development and hard work which took them at least a year to put together.
the a side takes up where the last year’s ep left off, establishing a template of industrial pummeling techno with a focus on irresistible, broken groove. a1 “the power of prayer” is a powerful banger - droning synths and dislocated samples build up the anticipation, before massive kicks drop and propel the tension onwards. a2 “controlled by faith” is similarly destructive on the dancefloor, a bundle of rasping, dirty rattles that drive on relentlessly in funky delirium.
the b side delves into the darker, more elusive recesses of the duo’s creativity. on b1 “ancient cycles”, distorted rumbles morph over pattering, primordial percussive patterns. b2 “role of the observer” ratchets out a heady mesh of fragmented, disorientating textures over frantic, propulsive beats.
